2007 AOY Keeps it True
Wayne modestly states, “I am blessed to be able to do that which I really have a passion for doing.” Fishing has been in his blood since he was a child. He was the kid with the bass boat in the parking lot during school so that he could get a couple hours in prior to work, football or baseball practice.
That passion has not changed of course, his responsibilities have and he simply is not able to go all out like before, but still wants to be fishing whenever he has the time.
Wayne has fished and been successful at multiple levels in this sport and gains just as much satisfaction from doing well in a club tournament as he does in success in higher level events. The tournament competition satisfies his competitive drive, however the real reason to be in a “club” environment is the friendships made and the ability to learn and teach new things. Wayne takes great personal satisfaction when a club mate does well in a tournament utilizing something that he has taught them, even if their success is detrimental to his. He will continue to pursue his sport as long as the Lord allows him the health and ability.
Wayne presently serves as the Vice-President and Tournament Director of East County Bassmasters. After over five years as President, he is working to develop more depth and providing guidance so other Club members can actively serve. Wayne has held office in the past with the San Diego Council of Bass Clubs and presently serves as ECBM’s Club Representative to the Council.
